Roof Jack Termination

For runs that have to exit through the roof because there is no usable exterior wall. Two things matter here and neither is the vent itself: the flashing has to be right or you have bought yourself a roof leak, and the run needs to stay as short and straight as it can, because a vertical exit tends to add elbows fast. We would rather reroute to a wall when the house allows it.

The standard exterior termination: a hood with a damper that swings open on airflow and falls shut when the dryer stops. Closed, it keeps weather and pests out; open, it should not restrict the run. We check that the damper actually moves freely on every visit, because a painted-over or lint-jammed damper looks completely normal from the ground while quietly strangling the whole system.

Used where the run has to come out under the eave. Workable, with one caution we will always raise: warm moist exhaust discharging close to a soffit intake can get pulled straight back into the attic. If the geometry looks like that, we will move the termination rather than install it and hope.
