Wall Hood with Backdraft Damper
The standard exterior termination: a hood with a damper that swings open on airflow and falls shut when the dryer stops. Closed, it keeps weather and pests out; open, it should not restrict the run. We check that the damper actually moves freely on every visit, because a painted-over or lint-jammed damper looks completely normal from the ground while quietly strangling the whole system.
Damper: Backdraft damper required (IRC M1502.3)Termination: Discharges outdoors — never into an attic or crawlspace
