Listed Transition Duct (UL 2158A)

The short flexible piece between the dryer and the wall — the only place in the entire system where flexible duct is allowed, and it has rules. It has to be listed and labelled to UL 2158A, it cannot exceed a single eight-foot length, and it can never be concealed in a wall or ceiling. The white vinyl and thin foil accordion hoses still sold in hardware stores meet none of that. If we find one behind your dryer it is coming out.

Semi-Rigid Aluminum Transition

A stiffer transition that holds its shape when the dryer is pushed back, instead of crushing flat behind the machine like a soft hose does. Same rules apply — listed, single length, never concealed. This is what we fit by default in tight laundry closets where the appliance is going to get moved.

Listed Booster Fan (DEDPV)

The sanctioned way to run a duct past the normal length limit. Code caps a dryer run at thirty-five feet of developed length, and every bend eats into that — which is why plenty of two-storey and mid-building laundry rooms are over the limit the day they are framed. A listed dryer exhaust duct power ventilator, installed to its manufacturer's instructions, is what makes those runs legal and functional. It is not a patch for a dirty duct: if the run is simply blocked, cleaning is the fix and a booster would just be an expensive way to push against lint.

Booster Pressure Switch & Controls

The control side of a booster install — the switch that senses the dryer starting and runs the fan only when there is actually air moving. Worth understanding before you buy a booster: this is a powered appliance in your duct, so it needs servicing on a schedule like anything else, and a booster nobody ever cleans becomes the blockage it was installed to prevent.

Airflow / Lint Build-Up Monitor

A sensor on the run that watches for airflow dropping and tells you before the dryer does. Most people find out about a loading duct when clothes stop drying in one cycle — by then the run has usually been restricted for months. Useful mainly on long or concealed runs where you have no other way of knowing. On a short straight run to an exterior wall it is honestly not worth the money.
