Listed Transition Duct (UL 2158A)

The short flexible piece between the dryer and the wall — the only place in the entire system where flexible duct is allowed, and it has rules. It has to be listed and labelled to UL 2158A, it cannot exceed a single eight-foot length, and it can never be concealed in a wall or ceiling. The white vinyl and thin foil accordion hoses still sold in hardware stores meet none of that. If we find one behind your dryer it is coming out.

It is not a patch for a dirty duct: if the run is simply blocked, cleaning is the fix and a booster would just be an expensive way to push against lint.
